Following these easy, step-by-step directions to Amanzi River Camp will ensure that you do not get lost along the way.

From Cape Town:

  • Book out of South Africa at the Vioolsdrif border post.
  • Drive across the Orange River to reach Customs & Immigration at Noordoewer. At Immigration, request a form to complete. (Write “Amanzi Trails, Noordoewer” where physical address is required).
  • After completing Immigration, pay the cross-border permit for your vehicle.
  • Continue along the B1 (N7) for 2km.
  • At the Engen 1-Stop, turn left onto the C13 and follow the tar-road for approximately 11km.
  • Turn left at the “Amanzi Trails” sign (road F243). Continue along this road for 3 km to reach our base camp.

Johannesburg (2 options)

1) Route via Vioolsdrif (approximately 1300 km)

  • Book out of South Africa at the Vioolsdrif border post.
  • Drive across the Orange River to reach Customs & Immigration at Noordoewer. At Immigration, request a form to complete. (Write “Amanzi Trails, Noordoewer” where physical address is required.
  • After completing Immigration, pay the cross-border permit for your vehicle.
  • Continue along the B1 (N7) for 2km.
  • At the Engen 1-Stop, turn left onto the C13 and follow the tar-road for approximately 11km.
  • Turn left at the “Amanzi Trails” sign (road F243). Continue along this road for 3km to reach our base camp.

2) Route via Nakop (approximately 1250km)

  • From Upington take the N10 for approximately 135km to Nakop border post (South Africa).
  • Book out of South Africa here.
  • Continue along the B3 (N10) for 15km to reach Customs & Immigration at Ariamsvlei border post (Namibia). At Immigration, request a form to complete. (Write “Amanzi Trails, Noordoewer” where physical address is required).
  • After completing Immigration, pay the cross-border permit for your vehicle.
  • Continue on the B3 for 178km via Karasburg to Grunau.
  • Turn left onto the B1 and travel south to Noordoewer for 142km.
  • At the Engen 1-Stop turn right on the C13 and travel on the tar-road for approximately 11km.
  • Turn left at the “Amanzi Trails” sign (road F243). Continue along this road for 3km to reach our base camp.
